A Community Service block pattern is printed in each newsletter (every two months / six per year).
    * Kits containing one or more of the fabrics to be used in the block are handed out at our monthly meetings.
    * Members complete one or more kits adding their own fabrics
    * The blocks are returned to the Block Chairman who puts them together creatively.
    * Other volunteers layer, quilt and bind the quilts
    * They are displayed at the annual Quilt Show and then donated.

Suggested Community Service Quilt Sizes

Lap Size Quilts (approximately 50 x 60) for adults will be given to the Cancer Center, Eagle Rehab, Quail Hollow and Richland Life Care.

Snuggle Size Quilts (approximately 40 x 60) for kids will be given to Child Protective Services, Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault Response, Red Cross and Royal Family Kids' Camp
 
Bed Size Quilts for children and adults are needed for Hospice, Habitat for Humanity and Domestic Violence.  Typical mattress sizes:  twin 39x75, full 54x75, queen 60x80; figure an appropriate drop for sides and bottom

   Laurel Burch cat fabric and tone-on-tones or solids 
The guild will furnish the fabrics or you many use your own

A quickie block because we are all busy getting ready for the March 30-31 quilt show
CUTTING INSTRUCTIONS:

ONE  6" square of Laurel Burch cat fabric.  CUT THIS DIAGONALLY, upper right to lower left--See Photo 1

ONE 1-1/8th” x 9” tone-on-tone strip in color to coordinate with the cat print. Note: small prints may be used, especially if they have white in them
SEWING INSTRUCTIONS

Place the strip RST on the left triangle, leaving about 1/4th “ extending at each end.  Stitch the 9” strip to the long side of the triangle.  FINGER PRESS OPEN TO THE STRIP.    Place the other half of the square (the right triangle) right sides together along the strip.

Stitch along diagonal side.  FINGER PRESS OPEN TO THE STRIP.

Place a 6” square on it and trim the corners.  Voila!  It’s done
